(25-9-2021, Nay Pyi Taw)

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has learned of the concerns expressed by some foreign missions regarding the recent suspension of the internet in some townships of Myanmar based on some social media news which were drawn from unreliable and unverified sources.

In fact, the recent internet connections were disrupted due to terrorist acts such as destroying of communication towers by terrorist groups affiliated with the so-called National Unity Government (NUG) and People Defence Force (PDF).

Myanmar steadfastly adheres to the position of condemning terrorism and extremism in all forms and manifestations and reaffirms its determination to take legal actions with existing laws against those committing terrorist acts. Myanmar has always valued the fundamental human rights of the people of Myanmar which are clearly stipulated in the 2008 State Constitution.

The Ministry urged some foreign missions in Yangon to thoroughly verify the information before making statements and to highlight the information formally provided by the government.
