Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Wunna Maung Lwin participated in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, 24th ASEAN Political-Security Community Council Meeting, and 30th ASEAN Coordinating Council Meeting which were held via video conference today at 08:00 a.m. from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nay Pyi Taw.
The Meetings were chaired by H.E. Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, Minister of Foreign Affairs II of Brunei Darussalam in his capacity as the Chair of ASEAN and attended by ASEAN Foreign Ministers and the Secretary-General of ASEAN.
At the 24th ASEAN Political-Security Community Council Meeting, the Ministers discussed recent developments of Sectoral Bodies under the ASEAN Political and Security Community and reviewed the implementation of the APSC Blueprint.
At the 30th ASEAN Coordinating Council Meeting, the Ministers discussed matters pertaining to ASEAN's key initiatives on COVID-19 response, preparations for the 38th and 39th ASEAN Summits and Related Summits and endorsed the documents to be submitted to the ASEAN and Related Summits.
At the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting, the Ministers discussed and exchanged views on ASEAN’s 2021 Key Deliverables, ASEAN’s external relations, regional and international issues, and updates on the Implementation of the Five-Point Consensus.
In his statement at the Meeting, Union Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin underscored that Myanmar, as a country coordinator, will make best efforts to contribute to the advancement of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations. He also discussed the preparation for the 30th Anniversary of the ASEAN-China Commemorative Summit and informed the implementation of the five-point consensus of the ASEAN Leaders' Meeting and discussed the possibilities of the visit of Special Envoy to Myanmar.
Together with the Union Minister, Senior Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also attended the meetings.
